|Nobody knows when exactly the castle was built. Historical research confirms that Claudius Florimundus Mercy bought the estate of Hőgyész in April 1722 and then they started to build the castle. The date of its completion is somewhere around the time of Mercy-Argenteau II.
This assumption proves the fact that he was the one who built the chapel to the castle.
